There is a huge difference in the techniques adopted in kids soccer drills to train kids in comparison to those who are in high school or college. The reason is that young players are mature enough to demarcate between what works for them and what does not while kids are new to everything.

But, there are certain methods that can be used in soccer drills for kids which will help them become exceptional soccer players. It’s a known fact that kids ought to have lots and lots of fun in the game, in order to make them love the game. If their level of interest is not maintained, they feel discouraged to play. The pressure to quit the game begins to play on them. So have patience and don’t make them feel obligated to play.

Most of the kid’s play the game because their parents want them to while others plays for sheer enjoyment. In either case, kids don’t consider any amount of rewards or trophies for playing the game. Many soccer coaches tend to completely ignore this aspect in kids soccer drills. They press them hard to achieve the daily targets in terms of performance level, physical stamina and skills. This results in kids not only feeling discouraged but also suffer from low-esteem.

Any new coach, designing soccer drills for youth for the first time is expected to feel nervous. The reason could the indiscipline of the players in the game. But, take it easy. The kids will surely realize the meaning of regularity and team-work, no matter how much time it takes. They will also realize that in order to get respect they will first have to respect other team members including their coach.

Here, it is crucial that kids in youth soccer drills are acquainted with new regulations. This is due to the fact that they may not know them and be slow at learning about them. Also, it makes sense to involve the kids in decision making process before you introduce anything new. This gives the kids a lot of sense to accept the changes and follow them correctly.

In the role of a coach, it makes sense that you help the kids develop some good traits as well. To attain his objective, you will have to monitor each kid individually. You must make it a point to ensure that kids get a lot of time for themselves on the ground and that you admire their skills from time to time. In addition to this, make sure to reprimand those as well who create a ruckus and deviate from the set norms.
This makes the players liable for their acts.

Nevertheless, be alert with this exercise. Do not be abusive with the kid. He should not become the center of gossip. As an example, you can keep the boy away from a training session as a punishment.
