How to cook your turkey to perfection

By 1way On July 28, 2010 Under Uncategorized

If you cook it right then turkey is a really tasty meal, but if you don’t cook it right then it is often a real chore to chomp through layers of dry, tough meat. The best way to cook your turkey to make sure it is going to be juicy is to fry it, the oven just dries it out, but a fryer will make the skin go all crispy and keep the rest of the meat moist as the juices stay inside.

Most people like to use a propane turkey fryer, and I’m not sure why, with that you need to worry about it being knocked over and worry about the oil getting too hot and setting on fire. If you use a Masterbuilt electric turkey fryer instead then it will be up on the side with a cover on it so you don’t need to worry as much about it being knocked over (unless you have a dog who jumps up on the counter) and it has a thermostat on it to regulate the temperature for you, so you can just sit back and relax.

The cooking time for frying is about 4 minutes per pound of turkey once it has come back up to temperature, and you can adjust that based on how crispy you like it, just make sure you use a meat thermometer to check it is properly done before serving. Serve it up with lashings of gravy and lots of potatoes and other trimmings and you have a great meal for the family to enjoy any time of the year, not just on Thanksgiving.
