Getting Travel Insurance For Children That Are Adopted

By noel On June 24, 2011 Under Uncategorized

You can definitely include your adopted chidren when covering for dependents under your travel insurance policy.  In most cases, its not clear how they would know the difference unless they do have a different last name which might be the case in a second marriage.  Be assured however, that your adopted children can be covered under your policy.

If you already have a travel policy, then the adopted child can get covered instantly for up to 31 days from the time they are placed in the home.  Once that 31 days is over, then you would need to call the insurance company back and renew that coverage for them to make certain there is no lapse.  Be sure you keep all of your paperwork handy, as they may ask to see that final adoption decree.  This is the best method when shopping for the cheapest annual travel insurance.

You may also add eligible dependents that the court has ordered into your policy.  You may find out about the requirements in cases where the adoption is still in process.  If there is a court order issued that a dependent should be covered, usually the coverage will last for up to the 31 days, after which it will need to be renewed.

If you wanted to include an extended family living with you, some insurance companies would allow this provided that they are really under your care or under the care of the person applying for the insurance.  It may possibly be a nephew or a grandchild.   The insurance includes annual family travel insurance.  What the insurance would just ask of you is a proof that shows that the individual is under your care.  However, look for the loopholes because if this child is on someone elses accident or sickness policy than they may not provide coverage for them.
