Extra Business Security
Have you noticed an increased level of crime in your local area during recent months? Well I am based in the United Kingdom and I have noticed a substantial increase in what some would consider to be small and petty crime. These are crimes such as burglary and shoplifting. They may well seem petty to some people however for me and for the people and businesses who are affected they can be very distressing as well as extremely frustrating. For the purposes of this article I am going to focus on business as I am a small business owner, and the increased and pressing need to secure our businesses against these criminals.
You may well be wondering why there has been such an increase in the levels of crime in my and your neighbourhoods. Now I do not profess to have all of the answers, of course, however it may well have something to do with the government cutbacks – as an example my local police force has been reported to have made over one thousand policemen and policewomen redundant. Now I do not want to become political here but this is surely a bad sign. If these police officers were required before then surely we still need them now. And as for the banks, they go marching on paying their massive bonuses despite the fact that we the British tax payer own large stakes in the majority of them.
So we have seen the need to secure our businesses from these rogue elements, so in what way should we go about implementing this? Well each and every business is different of course therefore you should look into your own circumstances and then decide upon the best course of action from that. For our business I have enlisted the help of a professional security company who now provide us with a couple of security guards over the weekend period – this is when the majority of these types of crime tend to happen in our area, as this is when the teenagers and other youths are usually out and about, and drunk from drinking too much alcohol. They have also implemented a key holding service which is certainly something that gives me a good deal of peace of mind.
It is shame, most certainly, that we as a business have had to resort to such measures – this is just a sign of the times.
